Who uses Zocdoc
Physicians, dentists and other healthcare providers listed on Zocdoc, and patients who booked and attended an appointment. Some profiles also show Partner Reviews collected by independent patient survey providers such as Press Ganey.
Claim your profile
- Providers sign up through Zocdoc's provider site by entering a work email and choosing Get started; large provider groups can request an Enterprise demo instead.
- Zocdoc says doctors who sign up go through verification during onboarding: it confirms an active medical license in good standing in the state of the profile, plus the specialty, medical education and any board certifications listed, before approving them for the marketplace.
Captured on October 28, 2026; the site's screens may have changed since. Names of other people and businesses are blurred.
Replying to reviews
Zocdoc does not currently allow providers to respond to reviews. Its provider help center says this is because the reviews concern healthcare and replies could risk exposing patients' information publicly.
- Since replies are not available, providers who believe a review breaks the review policy email Trust and Safety instead (see the reporting section).
- Under Zocdoc's Community Standards, providers may not take steps to block or take down legitimate patient reviews.
- Patients who book through Zocdoc automatically receive review requests. A provider with fewer than 30 reviews can also ask patients who booked outside Zocdoc for a review, using "Request reviews" on their Home page or the Ratings & reviews section of the Zocdoc dashboard.
Review rules
In our own words. The official page is the rule that applies.
- Zocdoc reviews are submitted by patients after an appointment that the provider indicated they attended, and a patient can leave one up to 120 days after the appointment date.
- Patients can post anonymously, and positive and negative reviews are both posted when they follow the guidelines.
- Zocdoc's moderation team examines every review, including Partner Reviews, and because a person moderates each one, posting can take a few days.
- Reviews with profanity, personally identifiable information, pricing details tied to insurance coverage, promotional content or claims about the accuracy of a provider's treatment or diagnosis are not published.
- Fees that apply regardless of insurance, such as cash-pay, concierge, cancellation or parking fees, can be mentioned.
- Providers may not unduly sway what patients write, and may not penalize a patient for posting a negative review.
Reporting a review
Zocdoc's own process, step by step.
- Email trustandsafety@zocdoc.com if you believe a review violates Zocdoc's review policy, and include any specific evidence you have.
- The help center says a review can be disputed for up to one year after its approval date.
- Zocdoc removes reviews it determines violate its Review Guidelines or Community Standards. Suspicion alone is usually not enough.
- If a review comes from someone who did not interact with the practice or did not show up to the appointment, email the same Trust and Safety address.
Tips
- Keep the profile, insurance and availability information accurate and current.
- Ask patients for honest feedback after visits, and do not try to influence what they write or ask them to remove a critical review.
- Do not take negative action against patients who leave critical reviews.
- Use critical feedback to improve scheduling, communication and wait times.
- Report only reviews that truly appear to break the posted policy, and include evidence.

About the numbers
- AI citations: the share of answers from AI assistants that cite a page on zocdoc.com, out of 23,227 answers in the last 90 days, to questions about the businesses in our directory ("what do customers say about ...") and to category questions ("best dentist in ..."). As of October 30, 2026. ↩
