Who uses REVIEWS.io
Online stores and other businesses, many of them on Shopify, Magento, WooCommerce or BigCommerce, that collect company and product reviews from their own customers, and the shoppers who read them. Some sectors, such as forex, crypto, essay writing and adult services, are not accepted.
Claim your profile
- To collect and manage reviews, create a business account. REVIEWS.io says it has no free plan for direct sign-ups; the only free option is a limited plan for Shopify merchants with 25 review invites a month, installed from the Shopify App Store.
- Choose a plan on the pricing page (Essentials, Start-Up, Grow or Plus); every paid plan starts with a 14-day free trial.
- Sign up with your company name, your live website domain and an email address on your business domain. Free email providers are not accepted.
- Click the activation link in the verification email, set a password and log in to the dashboard. If the account is not active after 24 hours, contact support by live chat.
- The business must comply with the REVIEWS.io Terms and Conditions; accounts in excluded business types are deactivated.
Replying to reviews
In the REVIEWS.io dashboard, go to Timeline and click the review you want to answer. Type your reply and choose Post Public Reply, which shows next to the review, or Private Reply. You can also reply straight from review notification emails if they are turned on under Settings, Notification Settings, Review Notifications.
- REVIEWS.io recommends replying rather than requesting moderation when a review is genuine but negative or based on a misunderstanding.
- Trustpilot reviews shown through REVIEWS.io must be answered on Trustpilot.
- After resolving an issue, you can use Ask To Revise on the review to email the customer a link to update it. This needs the customer's email address and does not work on a moderated review.
- If you raise the minimum star rating for auto-publishing, lower-rated product reviews wait as pending for a short time so you can respond first; genuine reviews still publish within 14 days.
Review rules
In our own words. The official page is the rule that applies.
- Businesses may collect reviews only from their own genuine customers, about products or services they actually bought or used.
- Writing, buying, incentivizing or soliciting reviews that do not reflect a real customer's experience breaks REVIEWS.io's Fake Review Policy and can lead to immediate account termination.
- Incentives for company reviews are not permitted. Product review incentives are allowed in some cases, but must be offered for all reviews (not only positive ones) and the reviews must be marked as incentivized, which shows a badge on the public page.
- Reviews can be removed when they were not left by a verified customer, contain offensive or defamatory content, name individual staff members, are spam, fraudulent or from a competitor, or are clearly about a different company.
- Reviews cannot be removed just because they are negative, and REVIEWS.io says businesses cannot choose to show only their good reviews on their profile page.
- Businesses can turn off the public Write a review form so that only invited customers can submit reviews.
Reporting a review
REVIEWS.io's own process, step by step.
- Log in to the dashboard, go to Timeline and find the review (search by reviewer name or email).
- Open the review, click Moderate, enter a reason such as not a real customer, offensive content or incorrect company, and submit. Reviews can also be reported from the report option on the public company profile.
- REVIEWS.io says a moderation decision usually comes within about an hour, and an approved change shows publicly within an hour of the decision. A review flagged several times without action is escalated automatically.
- Reviews collected on Google cannot be moderated here and must be reported through Google's own tools.
- To dispute a declined request or remove reviews in bulk, contact the support team by live chat.
Tips
- Invite every customer to review, not only those you expect to be happy.
- Reply publicly to negative reviews with context and an apology where it is due; REVIEWS.io notes that shoppers read how a business responds.
- Fix the problem first, then ask the customer to revise the review rather than requesting moderation.
- Keep product reviews about the product and company reviews about the service, since off-topic product reviews are a common moderation case.
