Replying to reviews

Restaurant Guru lists responding to reviews among the features of a business account. Review rules

In our own words. The official page is the rule that applies.

  • User content must not be illegal, threatening, obscene, defamatory, racist, spam or commercial solicitation. The terms also exclude references to illegal activity, malpractice, overcharging, false advertising and health code violations such as foreign objects in food or food poisoning.
  • Reviews should be unbiased and objective.
  • Reviewers may not be paid for a review and may not review their own restaurant or one belonging to their employer, a friend, a relative or a competitor.
  • False email addresses and impersonation are not allowed, and the name a reviewer gives may be shown publicly.
  • Contributors must hold the rights to what they upload. Content must be family friendly, and sexually explicit comments, prejudiced language, threats and personal insults are removed.
  • Restaurant Guru uses technology and content editors to moderate uploads, but says it may not regularly review what users submit and asks readers to report problems.

Reporting a review

Restaurant Guru's own process, step by step.

  1. Each review has a Request content removal link, and the same form is linked in the site footer.
  2. The form asks for the URL, a reason (privacy concern; offensive, hateful or sexually explicit content; copyright or legal issue; wrong information; or other), an email address and a message.
  3. Restaurant pages also have a Report incorrect information link for listing details.
  4. Copyright claims can also be sent to dmca@restaurantguru.com with the details listed in the disclaimer.

Tips

  • Keep hours, menus and photos current, since diners compare them across many restaurants.
  • Many reviews shown come from other platforms, so managing your profiles there also improves what appears here.
  • Reply to reviews politely and briefly, and take specific complaints offline.
  • Never pay for reviews or ask friends, staff or relatives to post them.

About the numbers

  1. AI citations: the share of answers from AI assistants that cite a page on restaurantguru.com, out of 23,227 answers in the last 90 days, to questions about the businesses in our directory ("what do customers say about ...") and to category questions ("best dentist in ...").
