Who uses ResellerRatings
E-commerce retailers and brands, and the shoppers who review their purchases. Reviewers are asked for an invoice number as proof of purchase, and store profiles are usually added by customers rather than by ResellerRatings.
Claim your profile
- Find your store on ResellerRatings.com. ResellerRatings does not add stores itself: signed-in customers submit them, and merchants who want a listing added are asked to contact the sales team.
- Use the merchant sign-up page to claim the listing; ResellerRatings says claiming and correcting profile data is free.
- On the free tier you can update the store's listing details and categories, use the basic review widget, collect brand reviews through a direct link and reply to up to three reviews a month.
- Paid (Pro) accounts add features such as review impact tracking and widget customization.
- A store that is added but gets no reviews within 90 days is removed automatically, and ResellerRatings says it does not delete companies at a merchant's request.
Replying to reviews
From the merchant dashboard, open the review (which opens a case) and choose PUBLIC REPLY to answer where every shopper can see it, or send a direct reply that goes privately to the reviewer by email. ResellerRatings suggests acknowledging a review publicly even when the conversation continues in private.
- The free tier allows replies to up to three reviews a month.
- After resolving an issue, use Ask to Revise on the case to email the customer a link to update the review.
- The help center advises a factual, non-defensive reply that offers a solution, and a reply with your side of the story if a review seems untrue.
- Merchants may not offer money, goods or services in exchange for changing or removing a review.
Review rules
In our own words. The official page is the rule that applies.
- Reviews must come from people with a purchase or genuine experience with the store, and reviewers are asked for an invoice number as proof of purchase.
- Employees, people writing about a competitor, and others with a conflict of interest may not review a store; paid or inauthentic reviews are removed.
- Retailers may not offer contests, discounts or other monetary incentives for seller or brand reviews, and incentivized reviews may be removed.
- Stores caught posting fake reviews get an admin note on their reviews page for at least 30 days, permanently if it continues, and may get a warning banner for suspicious review activity.
- Reviews with personal information, offensive or hateful content, spam, promotion of other businesses, serious allegations of misconduct, or content judged to be AI-generated can be removed.
- Review gating or other biased manipulation of a storefront leads to removal of the affected reviews.
- Reviews are never removed for their rating, and ResellerRatings does not settle disputes between shoppers and stores.
Reporting a review
ResellerRatings's own process, step by step.
- Go to Dashboard, Seller Ratings, Reviews and click the review; confirm opening a case if asked.
- In the case, click FLAG next to PUBLIC REPLY, choose the reason (such as vulgar content, not a business review, personal information, current or former employee, not a customer, reference to a competitor or older than one year) and add a short note pointing to the problem.
- Click Flag it. The reviews team handles flags Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM Eastern, within two business days at most.
- Possible outcomes: the review becomes inactive; it is held as pending while the reviewer gets 10 days to edit it; or it stays active. A not-a-customer flag emails the reviewer to ask for proof of purchase.
- A decided flag cannot be raised again unless the reviewer changes the review. Questions go to support@resellerratings.com, and shoppers can use the report option next to a review.
Tips
- Write each reply for the specific reviewer instead of reusing canned text.
- Answer negative reviews promptly, without blaming the customer, and offer a concrete next step.
- Message the reviewer privately before replying publicly when a review seems inaccurate.
- Only flag reviews that clearly break a listed term; disagreement with a shopper's opinion does not qualify.
