Who uses Manta
Small businesses located in the United States, which can register a free member and company profile, and people searching for local companies, including restaurants, doctors, lawyers, contractors, automotive businesses and dentists.
Claim your profile
- Find your company on Manta and open its profile.
- Click Own This Business? (unclaimed profiles also show Claim this listing for free) and follow the steps to claim the profile.
- After claiming, sign in and use the Business Dashboard to replace incorrect information and add a description, photos and videos; Manta says all changes are password protected.
- A claimed profile shows a claimed tag next to the company name.
- A claimed profile can only be edited by the email address that first edited it; if a former employee claimed it, reset the password through that company email or contact Manta to remove the claim.
- Manta says it usually takes about 24 hours for its own search pages to show new information; outside search engines take longer.
Replying to reviews
Manta's unclaimed profiles say that owners who claim their business can respond to reviews, among other things. The pages we checked do not describe the steps for replying.
- Manta's paid Business Profile Management package lists customer reviews monitoring, with replies to Manta reviews made directly from the dashboard.
- That package is listed at $49 a month on a month-to-month plan, with lower monthly rates for longer prepaid terms starting at $37 a month.
- The member profile also lists the recommendations a member has written.
Review rules
In our own words. The official page is the rule that applies.
- Manta's terms forbid content that publishes falsehoods or misrepresentations that could damage a person or business, or that is defamatory, libelous or deceptive.
- Posting fake endorsements or recommendations is not allowed.
- Users may not impersonate any person or business, including impersonating others to post favorable comments about their own business.
- Threatening, abusive, harassing or privacy-invading content is not allowed, nor content that degrades or intimidates people on the basis of religion, gender, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, age or disability.
- Manta says it does not endorse the opinions of users and may pre-screen, flag, filter, modify, refuse or remove content that breaks its terms, without any obligation to do so.
- Manta says it owns the aggregate user review ratings shown on the site.
Reporting a review
Manta's own process, step by step.
- The Manta pages we checked do not describe a way for businesses to report or dispute an individual review.
- The terms reserve Manta's right to remove content that violates them.
- To remove a whole company profile, the FAQ says to send Manta the URL of the page and a short explanation; Manta says it removes profiles within 48 hours of the request.
Tips
- Claim the profile with a company email address that will stay with the business, not a personal one.
- Check the profile details against your other listings so your name, address and phone match everywhere.
- Add a description and photos once the profile is claimed.
- Never post reviews or recommendations of your own business under another name; Manta's terms forbid it.
