Who uses G2
Vendors of business-to-business software and services list products on G2; consumer (B2C) products and products in alpha or beta are not accepted. Reviewers are actual users of those products (plus business partners and guest users) whose identity G2 can validate, and employees of the vendor or of a direct competitor may not review.
Claim your profile
- Search for the product on G2. If it is missing, fill out the Product Submission Form so G2's research team can check eligibility and categorization.
- Open the product profile, hover over the Unclaimed label, and choose Claim this profile.
- Wait for G2 to review the request; G2 states final approval takes 1 to 3 business days.
- If someone at your company already claimed the profile, ask that admin to add you; if you do not know who it is, G2's claim page points to a button on the right side of the product page.
- Contact G2 Support if the claim request runs into problems.
Replying to reviews
Replies are written in my.G2 under Reviews, Review Activity: in the Reviews found table select Read review on the review and type a response in the text field. The reply is published below the review, labeled with the responder's name and organization, and it can be edited or deleted later by opening the review again.
- G2's help page says responding to reviews is not available for free profiles.
- G2 recommends responding to both positive and negative reviews.
- For G2 reviews, an optional Resource URL can link to a page showing how the vendor acted on the feedback.
- G2 does not edit or remove reviews at a seller's request and does not act as a fact-finder in disputes between sellers and users.
Review rules
In our own words. The official page is the rule that applies.
- Reviews must come from actual users of the product (or business partners and guest users) and give their honest, firsthand experience from within the past two years.
- Fake or inauthentic reviews, reviews written for someone else or under a false identity, and reviews of products from the reviewer's current employer or its competitors are not allowed.
- Vulgar, offensive or harassing language, unauthorized confidential information from third parties, spam and plagiarized or copied content are not allowed.
- G2 sometimes offers incentives such as gift cards or donations for honest reviews, capped at $100 USD, regardless of the opinion expressed; confirmed incentivized reviews are labeled.
- Vendors must not collect reviews in ways that screen out negative ones or target only positive ones, tie incentives to positive reviews, discourage negative reviews, or contact reviewers to pressure them into changing their reviews.
- Business partners (such as resellers) and guest users may review, but their reviews are labeled and do not count toward the G2 Score.
Reporting a review
G2's own process, step by step.
- In my.G2, go to Reviews, Review Activity and select Read review on the review in question.
- Hover over the ellipsis and select Report a concern.
- Enter a title, choose a reason from the dropdown, and add a comment.
- Select Submit Your Concern; G2 says its moderation team reviews concerns within 2 business days.
Tips
- Respond to both positive and negative reviews, and where you acted on the feedback, show it (for example with the Resource URL).
- Keep the product and company information on the profile accurate.
- Ask customers in general for authentic feedback rather than only happy ones; G2 removes reviews when it finds a seller soliciting only positive ones.
- Never write, buy, or request fake reviews, and do not pressure reviewers to change what they wrote.
- If you offer your own incentive for a review, disclose it to G2.
