Who uses Expertise.com
Service professionals such as lawyers, home improvement contractors, financial and insurance firms, and business service providers, and consumers who use the city lists or the free concierge line to find a provider.
Claim your profile
- Already listed businesses can sign up for the free Provider Portal; Expertise.com says it is for businesses already on the site or in conversation with its team.
- In the portal you can review your published listings, download award badges, and edit basic details such as phone number, website and social profiles.
- For bigger changes, open a case in the portal and follow its case history.
- Businesses that are not listed cannot add themselves; in the Legal and Home Improvement categories they can request a review through the Review Me page.
- A basic request waits for the next major review of the category, typically 6 to 12 months; a paid add-on (no price published) promises an answer within 2 weeks.
- A business that does not make the list can apply again later.
Replying to reviews
The Expertise.com pages we checked do not describe a way for businesses to reply publicly to reviews. Listings show ratings collected from other review sites, so replies to those reviews are made on the sites where they were written.
- The about page asks consumers who want to share an experience with a listed business to send it to Expertise.com by email.
Review rules
In our own words. The official page is the rule that applies.
- Expertise.com says it scores providers on reputation, qualifications, experience, engagement and professionalism, and uses mystery shopper calls to judge professionalism.
- For reputation it looks at how many review sites rate a provider, the average score and how much the ratings vary.
- Its terms allow a review of a provider only from someone with first-hand knowledge of the provider's products or services.
- Employees, contractors and others affiliated with the provider, competitors, and anyone related to the provider may not review it.
- A reviewer confirms that the review is accurate, truthful and complete, and Expertise.com may remove, screen or edit user content at any time.
- Featured providers have passed the selection process and also pay to appear higher on the page; the terms say sponsored and featured sections are labeled.
Reporting a review
Expertise.com's own process, step by step.
- The Expertise.com pages we checked do not describe a process for reporting or disputing a review.
- Listed businesses can open a case in the Provider Portal to correct listing information.
- Other questions can go to Expertise.com by email at info@expertise.com.

- Keep your ratings strong on the major review sites, since Expertise.com reads review data from them.
- Make sure licenses, accreditations and years in business are easy to verify online.
- Answer the phone promptly and professionally; Expertise.com says it uses mystery shopper calls.
- Use the Provider Portal to keep your phone number, website and social profiles current.
