Who uses Edmunds

Car shoppers researching dealerships, and dealership sales and service teams who monitor feedback. Anyone representing a dealership can post a response.

Claim your profile

  1. Edmunds' help center describes no claim or registration step for dealer reviews; its FAQ says no registration is required to respond to reviews.
  2. For other questions, including reviews from previous management, Edmunds directs dealerships to their assigned Edmunds Account Executive or to Dealer Support by email.

Replying to reviews

Go to the dealership's showroom page on Edmunds.com, find the review, click the read more link, then click post a comment below the review text. Enter a display name for the dealership or the person responding, a valid email address, and the response text, and check the box confirming you are responding on behalf of the dealership.

  • No registration is required to respond.
  • Edmunds reviews every comment posted to a review for validity.
  • If someone not connected to the dealership posts a comment claiming to represent it, use the Report it link beneath that comment; the Reviews Team investigates and removes it if necessary.
  • Edmunds encourages dealers to respond to all of their reviews and to explain their side when they disagree with a review.

Review rules

In our own words. The official page is the rule that applies.

  • Reviews should describe the reviewer's own experience with concrete facts, stay on topic, and cover an experience from the past two years.
  • Reviews lacking enough detail about the experience may be rejected.
  • Reviewers may not have been offered payment or an incentive, and may not have a personal relationship with the dealership's owner or employees.
  • Not permitted: name-calling, profanity, ads or solicitations, links or HTML, personal contact information, and writing in all caps.
  • Edmunds reads every dealer review before it is published, which can take up to two business days, and reserves the right not to publish reviews that do not follow its guidelines.
  • Authors cannot edit or delete a review after submitting it, but can post an updated review to add information, correct something, or change the star rating.
  • Only reviews from the past two years count toward the overall star rating, though older reviews stay visible.

Reporting a review

Edmunds's own process, step by step.

  1. If a published review violates Edmunds' policies, click the Report It link on that review and give the reasons it violates the policies.
  2. Edmunds may remove a review at its discretion but states it is not obligated to remove any review.
  3. Edmunds does not remove reviews just because a dealer considers them inaccurate; it advises adding a comment with the dealership's side.
  4. If you believe a review is fraudulent (for example from a competitor or former employee), alert your Edmunds Account Executive and supply as many specific details and evidence as you can so Edmunds can investigate.
  5. A review posted to the wrong business can be moved: contact the Account Executive or send a request through the Help Center, including the review link and the full name of the correct dealership.
  6. Edmunds does not remove a review because a dispute was resolved; the customer can instead update their own review.

Tips

  • Respond to reviews, positive and negative, with a specific and professional reply written for public readers.
  • If a customer is satisfied after a dispute is resolved, you can invite them to update their review; Edmunds allows consumers to do so.
  • Do not write reviews for your own dealership, ask friends or family to, or offer payment or incentives for reviews; Edmunds treats these as fraud.
  • Do not make any part of a transaction depend on a positive review.
  • When reporting a review, include specific details and evidence.

About the numbers

  1. AI citations: the share of answers from AI assistants that cite a page on edmunds.com, out of 23,227 answers in the last 90 days, to questions about the businesses in our directory ("what do customers say about ...") and to category questions ("best dentist in ..."). Search-result and help pages on a review site are not counted. As of October 30, 2026. ↩
  2. Cited by AI, by industry: for each industry (a directory category, or the national brands filed under an industry such as e-commerce), the share of AI answers about businesses in that industry that cite a page on edmunds.com; n is the number of answers in that industry (last 90 days; only industries with at least 20 answers). As of October 30, 2026. ↩
  3. Has a profile, by industry: the share of the businesses we checked in each industry that have an Edmunds profile; n is the number of businesses checked in that industry. As of October 30, 2026. ↩
  4. States: the share of the businesses we checked in each state that have an Edmunds profile. States with too few businesses for a stable number are marked "small sample" and are not ranked; when every state is a small sample, none is shown. As of October 30, 2026. ↩
  5. Site reach: the estimated monthly organic search visits to edmunds.com (DataForSEO Labs) and its Domain Rating (Ahrefs, 0 to 100). These are third-party estimates for the whole domain, not figures from Edmunds. As of October 2026. ↩
