Who uses Clutch
Service providers that want a company profile and client reviews, and buyers looking for a provider. Reviews come from past or current clients that hired the provider; reviewers sign in with a LinkedIn account, a Google account or a company email address.
Claim your profile
- Find your company's existing profile; an unclaimed one shows an "Unclaimed Profile" tag and a "Claim Profile" button at the bottom.
- Click Claim Profile and choose a login method: Gmail, LinkedIn, or a company email with a password.
- Complete the form prompts.
- If your email matches the details Clutch has on record, an automatic verification email is sent; otherwise Clutch's team first confirms your connection to the company before sending the email invitation.
- After authentication you land in your Clutch account and can edit the company profile (invitation emails expire 3 days after they are sent).
- If no company profile exists, go to clutch.co/get-listed, pick a profile offering (Basic, Verified or Advertiser), sign in and set up the profile; Clutch's team reviews it before publishing.
Replying to reviews
A service provider can submit a written reply, called a Vendor Response, through the form linked from Clutch's help page. Replies are allowed on reviews whose overall rating is 3.5 stars or below, are limited to 300 words, go to Clutch's team for approval, and appear directly under the review once approved.
- Clutch may edit a reply to remove sensitive or inappropriate information before publishing it.
- Use a reply (not a dispute) when you disagree with a review from a real client; disputes are only for projects you believe are entirely fictional.
- Providers are welcome to ask clients for reviews, but Clutch does not tolerate regulating clients' feedback or asking clients to edit or delete a review.
Review rules
In our own words. The official page is the rule that applies.
- Only clients that hired the provider for one of its services can review, and Clutch collects one review per client company.
- Former employees and clients with a family tie to the provider are not eligible reviewers.
- Clutch verifies each reviewer's identity and work history; a review it cannot verify but finds useful may be published labeled as Not Verified.
- Reviews obtained for favors or money, about projects that never happened, with an intentionally concealed conflict of interest, or from someone impersonating another person are treated as falsified and are not published or are removed.
- AI writing tools are not prohibited, but a review must contain unique, project-specific information about the real collaboration; reviews with too little information, spammy or irrelevant content, or fully AI-generated content are not published.
Reporting a review
Clutch's own process, step by step.
- Anyone who believes a published review is falsified can submit a report through the link on Clutch's help page about falsified reviews; its Content Operations team investigates all reports.
- If a provider does not recognize the company or contact behind a review and believes the whole project is fictional, it emails report@clutch.co with a link to the review.
- The review is labeled "Review Under Dispute" while Clutch asks the reviewer for proof that their team worked with the provider.
- If proof is supplied the label is removed and the review stays; if no evidence is provided within 2 weeks of the dispute, the review is removed.
- Disagreeing with a review from a real client is not grounds for a dispute; Clutch points those cases to a Service Provider Response instead.
Tips
- Invite real past or current clients to review, for example by email with your Clutch review link, and let them write in their own words; never pay for reviews or try to control what clients say.
- Answer critical reviews calmly and factually, within Clutch's 300-word limit.
- Keep company details, service focus and contact information on the profile current.
- Never ask a client to edit or delete a review, and never threaten legal action over one; Clutch may place a Buyer Alert on providers that manipulate reviews.
