Who uses Chrome Web Store
Companies and developers that publish a Chrome extension or theme, from browser add-ons of software products to standalone tools. Reviews are about the extension, written by people who installed it.
Claim your profile
- There is no claim process for an existing listing. A listing belongs to the developer account that published the item.
- To publish, register as a Chrome Web Store developer in the Developer Dashboard, agree to the developer agreement and policies, and pay a one-time registration fee.
- Registration is available only in the countries and regions Google lists, and the developer email cannot be changed after the account is created.
- Items are owned by a publisher. Admins of a publisher can invite other people by email and give each one a role: Viewer, Item Manager, Editor or Admin.
Replying to reviews
Developers reply to reviews in the Reviews section of the item's listing, and can edit a reply later to give the user updates.
- Users are not notified when the developer replies to a review.
- Users can update their rating or review at any time, and each user can rate an extension only once.
- Developers can turn on email notifications for new or updated reviews (Item review completed, under Notifications in Account settings).
- The optional User Support tab is a separate place for bug reports, feature requests and questions; users are not notified of replies there either.
- Adding /reviews to the item URL opens the review page directly.
Review rules
In our own words. The official page is the rule that applies.
- A person can rate or review an item only after installing it.
- Reviews should stay on topic and leave out emails and links to websites or other apps.
- Fake reviews meant to raise or lower ratings, sexually explicit or profane content, abusive or harassing content, and impersonation are not allowed.
- Developers may not inflate ratings, reviews or install counts by illegitimate means, including fraudulent or incentivized reviews and ratings; developers who manipulate reviews or ratings can be banned from the store.
- Developers cannot remove user comments from their listing, even if they believe they are unfair.
Reporting a review
Chrome Web Store's own process, step by step.
- Anyone can report a review that breaks the review guidelines with Mark as spam or abuse next to the review.
- Developers can report fake reviews to Google through the One Support Form linked from the Manage user feedback page.
- Google does not publish what happens after a report or an appeal process.
Tips
- Reply to reviews with a short, factual update, and edit the reply when a fix ships, since users are not notified of replies.
- Turn on review notifications so new and updated reviews are seen quickly.
- Point users with bugs or questions to the User Support tab or a support site instead of the review section.
- Never offer an incentive for a review or a rating.

About the numbers
- AI citations: the share of answers from AI assistants that cite a page on chromewebstore.google.com, out of 23,227 answers in the last 90 days, to questions about the businesses in our directory ("what do customers say about ...") and to category questions ("best dentist in ..."). Search-result and help pages on a review site are not counted. As of October 30, 2026. ↩
- Cited by AI, by industry: for each industry (a directory category, or the national brands filed under an industry such as e-commerce), the share of AI answers about businesses in that industry that cite a page on chromewebstore.google.com; n is the number of answers in that industry (last 90 days; only industries with at least 20 answers). As of October 30, 2026. ↩
- Site reach: the estimated monthly organic search visits to chromewebstore.google.com (DataForSEO Labs). These are third-party estimates for the whole domain, not figures from Chrome Web Store. As of October 2026. ↩
